About the Author
J.W. Neville
J.W. Neville lives in Kent, where he writes crime fiction with a dry sense of humour and an unhealthy interest in what makes perfectly ordinary people do terrible things. When he isn’t unleashing chaos on poor DCI Gideon Fox, he can usually be found pruning topiary in the garden (the bushes do nothing to deserve it) or stumbling around a golf course wondering why he showed up — both, he insists, are fertile ground for plotting murder.
Formerly an architect and town planner, this proud Yorkshireman traded floor plans and community consultation for fractured lives and bloodstains. His debut novel, The Bulletproof Souls,(2025) originally published in hardback under the name Jon Neville, now returns in a tighter, darker paperback edition from Copper Fox Press — joined, in true British-bus fashion, by the follow-up, The Shape of a Fox. You wait ages for one, and then two turn up together.
The Old Nottingham Book Club voted The Bulletproof Souls ‘Crime Thriller of the Year,’ while Ingénu/e magazine declared it ‘Indisputably worthy of its own Netflix mini-series.’
He pretends not to believe either review but quotes them at every available opportunity.
